Pamela Busiek is the CEO of the Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD), an association working to strengthen their business practices and navigate the confusing waters of government regulation.
“We work with industry associations like the Personal Care Product Council, the Direct Selling Association and we are working very closely with Steve Sleeper and the Professional Beauty Association. Our motto is “together we are stronger.” There are so many issues facing the industry today, it is very important for us all to be on the same page.”
ICMAD provides networking opportunities, education, financial business development programs, due diligence guidelines for finding financial investors, and succession planning to companies.
ICMAD is a member of the Safe Cosmetic Alliance, an industry group advocating for the support of the Cosmetic Safety Amendments Act of 2012 that will provide a greater role for the FDA to assess the safety of cosmetic ingredients. The bill would call for enhanced regulatory oversight to keep pace with cosmetics innovation while giving small- and medium-sized businesses an opportunity to compete in the global economy.
The Safe Cosmetics Alliance represents the men and women working in the personal care product and services industry committed to providing the highest quality and safest products – from manufacturers to your local salon owner. We support science-based legislative and regulatory policies that enhance current consumer safeguards and strengthen FDA oversight of cosmetic and personal care products to ensure continued product safety.
